Buying

If one or both are available, we make note of this within the product listing details.

We strive to ensure all items are of good quality and authentic. However, not every item has been physically inspected before it is posted on the site. If you purchase an item that we have not authenticated prior to purchase, it will go through our rigorous evaluation process before shipping it to you. If the item does not pass our authentication process, you will be notified and refunded immediately.

At Markette Six, we strive to provide a trusted and secure platform, but also provide our sellers with options that they feel most comfortable with. We offer two different ways for our sellers to sell their items. When an item is sold, it is always authenticated before being shipped to the buyer.

Consignment allows us to appraise and authenticate the item prior to listing it on the site; we then securely store these items until the right buyer is found. However, we also allow individuals to list their items and maintain possession of the item until it is sold, as independent sellers on our marketplace. Once an independently listed item is sold, we physically inspect and authenticate these items before shipping them to you. Your funds will be securely held after you receive the item(s) you purchase to ensure that you are happy with them and have no cause for return.

Our goal in offering these two options is provide both sellers and buyers with a safe, secure, transparent system where satisfaction is 100% guaranteed on both ends.

Your local jeweler should be able to assess if the item can be resized to fit properly. If this is not possible, you may return the item if it is still in the return window, and not marked final sale.

We believe you should get all your jewelry insured. We recommend getting a quote from your existing homeowners or renters insurance provider or a third-party specialist like Jewelers Mutual.

If you are purchasing the item within the United States, you will not pay sales tax.

Selling

We offer two easy ways to begin selling your items.

Consignment: For sellers who are unsure of the value of their item, or who wish to be more removed from the selling process, this is the best option. To get started, you simply complete a quick form and then ship your item to us. Our experts authenticate and appraise the item(s) and we send you a fair market value listing price.

Upon your approval of the piece, we create a beautiful and professional listing for the piece(s) and post them to the marketplace. We will handle all the listing and selling details and store the item(s) in a secure storage facility. Consigned items are more likely to sell faster and you will receive up to 75% of the item’s selling price once it is sold.

Independent sellers: For sellers who wish to maintain possession of the item until it is sold, we allow you to individually list within our marketplace. As an independent seller, you will create and manage your own listing, and be responsible for the details and accuracy of your listing. Once your item sells, you’ll send it to Markette Six for authentication and we take care of the rest. Our process eliminates any back-and-forth between sellers and buyers and we will collect and hold your money before you ever have to ship your item. Independent sellers receive up to 80% of the item’s selling price upon sale.

Our goal in offering these two options is provide both sellers and buyers with a safe, secure, transparent system where satisfaction is 100% guaranteed on both ends.

Below are the costs and fees associated with selling an item on the Markette Six marketplace.

Commission structure:

  • Consignment—25% commission
  • Individual reseller—20% commission

Consignment fees:

  • Owner—responsible for shipping items to Markette Six
  • Consignment offer not accepted—$50 + return shipping and insurance
  • Consignment item deemed inauthentic—$50 + return shipping and insurance
  • Consignment canceled—$100 + return shipping and insurance

Independent seller fees:

  • Individually listed item deemed inauthentic—$50 + return shipping and insurance

Authentication fee:

  • A $50 authentication fee is added to the selling price of each item. Sellers commission is assessed off the listed sales price, less this fee.

If you have an item that you would like to sell on the Markette Six website, you first complete a short form about the item and then send it to us and we will have it independently appraised to find its fair market value. You are responsible for the fee for shipping the item to Markette Six.

If the item is accepted for sale on our website, we will inform you of the appraised value and the listing price. If you agree to the price, we will then professionally list the item for sale on the marketplace. Markette Six takes a 25% commission upon the eventual sale of the item.

If the item offer is not accepted for any reason, there is a $50 fee plus return shipping to cover the cost of appraisal, and secure storage. If you wish to cancel a consignment item that is currently listed on the site but has not sold, you may do so by paying a $100 fee plus return shipping to cover the cost of appraisal, photography, marketing, and secure storage. Consignment allows you to keep 75% of your item’s value while we handle the details and professionally manage your listing to get your piece sold fast.

We use independent graduate gemologists to review and appraise each item sent to us for consignment. The appraisal is based on the quality and condition of the item, as well as other market factors. Our independent gemologists appraise each item at current market value based on similar items to ensure that the item is fairly priced for both buyers and sellers.

All offers are based on a current market value for your item and its condition. If you are unhappy with the consignment offer, you can request to have the item returned at your expense. There is a $50 fee plus return shipping to cover the cost of appraisal and secure storage.

If you would like to become an independent seller on the Markette Six marketplace, you will first need to fill out and submit the simple listing form with your item’s details, photos, and asking price. We will review the item, and if approved, will immediately post it to the marketplace. As an independent seller, you are responsible for creating and managing your own listing, as well as verifying the details and accuracy on your listing. While your item is listed on the Markette Six marketplace, you will be responsible for maintaining possession of the item until it has been sold.

Once your item sells, you will send it to Markette Six for authentication and we take care of the rest. You will keep 80% of the item’s sale price. Our process eliminates any back-and-forth for online sellers, and we will collect and hold your money before you ever have to ship your item.

We suggest that you visit a certified graduate gemologist or appraiser near your home to get a market valuation of your item for resale.

Please note, the resale valuation of your item is not the same as the replacement appraisal cost (which is for insurance purposes) and reflects the new, unused original cost.

If you are unsure of exactly what your item is—or what its value may be—and do not wish to take it in to get it appraised, you can place the item in our consignment process and we will handle the appraisal, listing, professional photography, secure storage, and sale for you.

As an independent seller, you may reduce the price of your item at any time. You cannot, however, increase the price from its original listing price. If you wish to increase the price of your item, you must delete the current listing from the marketplace and create a new listing that will also need to be reviewed and approved by Markette Six.

As a consignor, you may request a price reduction by contacting Markette Six. As your item has already been appraised by our independent gemologist at current market value, you cannot increase its price from the original listing.

We recommend you ship all items with insurance to cover the full cost of the item. If the items are lost during shipping, please contact your selected shipping provider and file a claim.

We work with independent Master Gemologist Appraisers and watchmakers—the best in their field—to evaluate and authenticate each item. Each item is independently evaluated against the item’s description.

We will happily return any item on the request of the owner, as long as the item has not been sold. If you request to have your items returned, you will be subject to a $100 fee, plus insured shipping cost. These fees cover the costs associated with shipping, appraising, photographing, listing, marketing and securely storing your item while in our possession. Sellers are welcome to keep the appraisal documentation for their personal records.

We will continue to list the items until they are sold, or until you request for the items to be shipped back to you. At the end of the initial consignment period (6 months or 180 days), we may reach out to discuss a price reduction; however, the final decision on any reduction will be left in the hands of the seller.

Your payment will be sent via PayPal or via a physical check mailed by USPS. You will be able to select your payment preference from your account page

We process payments on the 15th and 30th of each month. Your sold item’s return window will need to have elapsed at least two business days prior to the 15th or 30th to be processed in the payment term. Please review your account page for additional payment timing information.

We only accept fine jewelry, watches, and gemstones at this time. Jewelry should consist of precious metals (white gold, rose gold, yellow gold, platinum, silver; also, palladium and stainless steel) with or without diamonds, pearls, or gemstones. We also accept loose gemstones.

Items we don’t sell: fashion jewelry, costume jewelry.

Shipping

We happily ship to the following countries/regions: United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, European Union, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the item can be legally imported into the destination country. Regulations may prohibit importation of items made with exotic materials. For international shipments, the customer is responsible for shipping and insurance, any import duties, goods and services tax (GST), value added tax (VAT), and customs fees.

Shipment time is dependent on whether the item was purchased via the consignment process or from an independent seller.

Items purchased via consignment will ship within 2-7 business days of purchase. Items purchased from an independent seller will ship within 5-15 business days, depending on when the seller ships the item and how long the independent valuation process takes.

We make every effort to expedite the process so that you receive your item quickly.

We offer free, fully insured, standard shipping to buyers within the United States.

FedEx and UPS.

Purchases may not be shipped to P.O. boxes, APO/FPO addresses, hotels, or freight forwarders.

You will receive a shipping confirmation email when we ship the items, which will include a tracking number. You can also find this information in your account page.

Returns

Please review our return policy here

Currently, we do not provide a prepaid return shipping label. If you have received a return authorization, you may follow the directions and return the items to us. Please fully insure the shipment, as Markette Six is not responsible for damage to or loss of the item.

You will receive a notification in your account page as soon as we confirm receipt of a returned item. Each item is subject to our authentication and evaluation to ensure it is returned in the same condition.

We will refund you using the same payment method you used to purchase the item, less any fees.

Markette Six will charge a 5% restocking fee, up to $500, per item returned. The returner is also responsible for the cost of return shipping and insurance.

I have items to return from multiple orders. Can I send them together in the same box? Yes, you can send them in the same box. Please insure the entire shipment for the total value. You will also need to include all of the multiple return authorization letters inside the box.
